The academy will be running its annual Transition Summer School in the first full week of the summer holidays, Monday 24th July to Thursday 27rd July, from 9:30am to 3:00pm each day. This will be open to all current Year 6 pupils who are joining us in September. There will be a cost of £40 in total for the summer school, though pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium will not be charged. The charge has been necessitated by a reduction in funding from central government, which comes into effect this year and is required to help us meet some though not all of the cost which we incur.
We intend to provide a wide range of activities to give pupils a taste of secondary school life and to offer an opportunity to familiarise them with some of our staff and facilities. There will be a range of subjects on offer and learning will be delivered through fun activities, rather than formal lessons. Pupils who request a place must commit to attending on all four days.
Further details and confirmation will be sent out later in the summer term.
GCSE results will be available for pupils to collect on Thursday 25th August 2016. The school will be open for the collection of results between 9.30a.m. and 12 noon.
The school day will be shortened to allow additional time for this event.
All pupils will follow their normal timetable, but lessons will be 55 minutes long instead of 60 minutes. The lunch break will also be reduced by 5 minutes.
All pupils will be dismissed from their lessons at 3:00pm, the scholars’ bus service will run as normal at 3:30pm so there is no need to make alternative arrangements to collect your child early. Pupils who use the scholars’ bus service should stay on-site until 3:30pm and will be supervised in designated year group areas.
All extra-curricular clubs which are usually held with Academy staff will be cancelled. Homework club and private music lessons will go ahead as normal.
