Whitburn Church of England Academy

Following the great success of last year’s event, Whitburn Church of England Academy PTA will be holding the annual Christmas Fayre on Thursday 27th November 2014 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.  There will be various stalls and attractions including; tombola, raffles, with the ‘Big Prize draw’, Christmas gifts, crafts and cards, jewellery, handbags, cakes and many more items which will make excellent presents ranging from “pocket money to Prada prices”.  Our choir and band will be performing throughout the event; we will also be serving festive refreshments.

Pupils will be given one book of raffle tickets for the ‘Big Prize’ draw.  You are under no obligation to sell these tickets, but as always your support is much appreciated.  Only one book of raffle tickets will be sent out per family (unless you would like to request more).  Any unsold tickets, stubs and money should be returned to the Academy Business Office in the envelope provided by Wednesday 26th November 2014.  The raffle will be drawn in school at 6:45pm on the evening of the Christmas Fayre.

Please remember that funds raised by the PTA will be used to subsidise whole school trips and events for all pupils, which helps to reduce the overall cost to parents and carers; it also helps to maintain a hardship fund for the academy which is used to give specific assistance when needed.

We hope you can find the time to attend this event and would very much appreciate any support you could offer, such as donations of prizes for our raffle/tombola which would need to be delivered to the academy by Wednesday 26th November at the latest.  Your assistance as a helper on the night would also be very much appreciated.  Please contact the Main Academy Office on 0191 529 3712 if you require any further information.

All girls in Year 8 are being offered the opportunity to be immunised against Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Medical advice is that the vaccine offers protection against two of the strains of HPV which can cause cervical cancer.

A member of the School Nursing Service will speak briefly to Year 8 girls regarding the vaccinations; an information leaflet and consent form has been issued to your daughter. If you wish your daughter to be vaccinated, it is important that the consent form is returned to the Main Academy Office before Friday 10^th October 2014.

HPV first vaccinations will be given on Monday 15^th December 2014 and the second dose will be given on Monday 29^th June 2015.
